Tim Edberg valt in bij JM Racing Honda

Door de opgelopen beenblessure van Brent van Doninck tijdens de MXGP in Argentinie zal hij voorlopig buiten de strijd zijn. Hierdoor zal het JM Racing Honda team een vervanger in gaan zetten in de MXGP klasse.

Tim Edberg zal voorlopig de plaats binnen het team in gaan nemen. Edberg is geen onbekende in de MXGP wereld want in het EMX250 Kampioenschap heeft hij in het verleden al op het podium gestaan en in de jaren daarna scoorde hij vele punten in het wereldkampioenschap MX2.

Binnen het JM Racing Honda team zal hij uit gaan komen in het wereldkampioenschap MXGP. De eerste Grand Prix van Edberg zal volgend weekend in Sardinie zijn maar voordat het zover is zal hij aankomende maandag aan de start komen bij de Dutch Masters of Motocross in Oldebroek. Dit is voor Edberg een goede voorbereiding om alvast wat ritme op de Honda CR-F450 op te doen.

Naast Edberg zullen ook Maximilian Werner en Hakon Osterhagen deelnemen aan de wedstrijd in Oldebroek!

Maximilian Werner scores sixth place in EMX250 Spain

Maximilian Werner of the JM Honda Racing team has finished sixth in the second moto of the EMX250 Championship in Arroyomolinos, Spain. Werner showed good speed in both motos but in the first moto he got tired so he had to drop the pace and didn’t score. He rectified this in the second moto by finishing sixth. Hakon Osterhagen managed to take points in both motos of the MX2 class and finished seventeenth on the day.

The first European Grand Prix of the season was also the start of the EMX250 Championship. Werner had a difficult time training in which he did not get further than a twenty-eighth time after a number of crashes. In the first moto, Werner got off to a good start. The first half of the race went well and with ten minutes to go he was still in eleventh place. Then fatigue set in and it went black before his eyes. Werner had to drop the pace and dropped down to 24th position. With this position he didn’t scored points for the championship.

In the second moto, Werner got another good start and then worked off a consistent race. Werner finished in a strong sixth place and finished eleventh in the overall classification.

Maximillian Werner: “Saturday was a very difficult day, during the first moto it got black in front of my eyes and felt all the energy flowing out of me. Fortunately, I still managed to finish the moto, but unfortunately this was outside the points. On Sunday I felt a lot better and crossed the finish line in sixth place.”

For the MX2 class, the race in Spain was the second race for the points after Argentina. Hakon Osterhagen had a difficult qualifying heat on Saturday. After a bad start, he found it difficult to get into his rhythm and noticed that the speed is not yet sufficient. As a result, he did not get further than a twenty-first place.

In the first moto on Sunday, Hakon came through the first corner just inside the top twenty. During the race he came back to the front and managed to cross the finish line in fourteenth place. In the second moto, Osterhagen got off to a similar start. During the race he fought many duels and managed to take another World Championship point with a twentieth place.

Hakon Osterhagen: “It was a weekend with ups and downs. The riding was pretty good at times but I miss the right aggression you need. In addition, I made too many stupid mistakes and I have to work on getting that out.”

The next race counting for the MX2 world championship is on April 6 and 7 in Riola Sardo, Italy.

Gemengde gevoelens voor JM Honda Racing na MXGP Argentinie

Het JM Racing Honda team blikt met gemengde gevoelens terug op de eerste wedstrijd van het wereldkampioenschap in Villa la Angostura in Argentinie.

Brent van Doninck kwam op zaterdag tijdens de start van de kwalificatieheat ongelukkig ten val en heeft hierbij zijn bovenbeen gebroken. Van Doninck is hier ondertussen aan geopereerd maar hem wacht een lange revalidatie.

Hakon Osterhagen liet in de MX2 klasse een goede snelheid zien. In de kwalificatieheat op zaterdag kwam hij in de kopgroep uit de start en reed een sterke wedstrijd waarin hij zevende wist te worden.

In de eerste manche reageerde hij net iets te laat bij de start maar toch kon hij net buiten de top tien aan de wedstrijd beginnen. Helaas kwam hij gedurende de wedstrijd ten val waarbij verschillende plaatsen verloren gingen en waardoor hij uiteindelijk als zeventiende over de finish kwam.

Een goede start in de tweede manche zorgde ervoor dat hij op een tweede plaats uit de eerste ronde kwam. In de eerste tien minuten wist hij zich staande te houden in de top vijf en na twintig minuten reed hij nog steeds in de top tien. Daarna moest hij het tempo iets laten zakken waardoor hij moegestreden als zeventiende over de finish kwam.

Met twee keer een zeventiende plaats in de manches eindigde hij op een achttiende plaats in het dagklassement. Over twee weken gaat het wereldkampioenschap verder in het Spaanse Arroyomolinos.
