Ups and downs for JM Racing Honda in MXGP of Trentino

JM Honda Racing has had ups and downs during the fourth round of the world championship in Trentino. Tim Edberg managed to take two points in the MXGP class. In the MX2 class, Hakon Osterhagen finished twentieth and unfortunately Delvintor Alfarizi didn’t score points. Max Werner competed in the EMX250 class. Everything looked promising until he crashed hard in the first moto. Werner came back for the second moto and managed to finish thirteenth on character.

A week after the Grand Prix in Sardinia, the MXGP of Trentino was held in Pietramurata last weekend. Another race in Italy and after last week’s sand track it was now a hard track.

Tim Edberg had a good feeling after the warm-up on Sunday morning and was ready for the first moto. After a good start, Tim started the race in the top five and rode a high pace. After a few laps, he dropped back to a place just inside the top 15. Unfortunately, a crash threw a spanner in the works, leaving him with a 22nd place just outside the points. In the second moto the start was less and he started the race around tenth place. In the beginning, Edberg was able to keep up well until he got tired and had to slow down a bit. This in itself is not surprising because Edberg has only just entered the MXGP class and has to grow every race. He fought until the finish flag and managed to take two points with a nineteenth place.

In the MX2 class, Hakon Osterhagen had mixed feelings after a weekend where he alternated speed and crashes. In the first moto, the Norwegian was constantly just outside the top twenty, after which he managed to make up some places in the final phase and crossed the finish line in seventeenth place. In the second moto the race went the other way around and Osterhagen had to settle for 26th place after a mistake in the final stages.

Delvintor Alfarizi was pleased with his riding in front of all the Italian fans. Unfortunately, he was not able to convert the good feeling on the bike into World Championship points. With a 27th place in the first and a 24th place in the second moto, Delvintor finished 26th in the day’s results.

Maximilian Werner got off to a good start in the first moto and rode a good moto until he crashed heavily on the triple jump and had to leave the race dizzy. On Sunday, after the sighting lap, the German decided to start in the second moto and managed to fight his way to a thirteenth place. “I didn’t knew if I could ride on Sunday morning, because I couldn’t see the lines clearly. Still, I decided to start and that’s why I’m very happy with my thirteenth place. Now I’m resting and recovering from my concussion.”

The next round of the world championship will be held on the weekend of the 5th of May when the MXGP of Portugal will be held in Agueda.

Difficult Sardinian Grand Prix for JM Racing Honda

The JM Racing Honda team has had a difficult third round of the MXGP World Championship. On the Riola Sardo sand circuit, the team failed to score with Hakon Osterhagen and Tim Edberg despite the effort.

Tim Edberg felt more at home on the bike in every session. In free practice he was sixteenth, followed by a twentieth time in time practice. This was also his position in the qualifying heat. He could have finished a bit higher if Edberg hadn’t crashed in the closing stages.

In the hot and humid conditions, it was tough for Edberg. He currently lacks the race rhythm and the physical condition to be able to go flat out in a Grand Prix like this and that’s why he didn’t make it to the finish in the first moto. In the second moto he was able to follow the high pace for about six laps but then had to drop the pace and finished outside the points. Edberg takes the positives from this Grand Prix and the goal is to get better in every race.

Hakon Osterhagen struggled with arm pump on Saturday and therefore the riding did not go well. As a result, he did not get further than a twenty-first place in the qualifying heat.

Also in the motos on Sunday, Osterhagen could not find the right flow on the track and therefore did not score. Osterhagen looks back on this race with disappointment and is motivated to do better in the coming races.

The next Grand Prix for JM Honda Racing is the Trentino Grand Prix, which is scheduled for this weekend.

Tim Edberg fills in at JM Racing Honda

Due to Brent van Doninck’s leg injury sustained at the MXGP in Argentina, he will be out of contention for the time being. As a result, the JM Racing Honda team will use a replacement in the MXGP class.

Tim Edberg will take the place of Van Doninck in the team for the time being. Edberg is no stranger in the MXGP paddock as he has been on the podium in the EMX250 Championship in the past and in the following years he scored many points in the MX2 World Championship.

Within the JM Racing Honda team he will compete in the MXGP class. Edberg’s first Grand Prix will be in Sardinia next weekend, but before that he will race the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Oldebroek next Monday. This is a good preparation for Edberg to gain some rhythm on the Honda CR-F450.

In addition to Edberg, Maximilian Werner and Hakon Osterhagen will also participate in the race in Oldebroek!

Maximilian Werner scoort zesde plaats in EMX250 Spanje

Maximilian Werner van het JM Honda Racing team heeft in de tweede manche van het EMX250 Kampioenschap in het Spaanse Arroyomolinos een zesde plaats weten te behalen. Werner liet in beide manches een goede snelheid zien maar in de eerste manche raakte hij vermoeid waardoor hij het tempo moest laten zakken en niet tot scoren kwam. Dit zette hij in de tweede manche recht door zesde te worden. Hakon Osterhagen wist in beide manches van de MX2 klasse punten te pakken en werd zeventiende in het dagklassement.

De eerste Europese Grand Prix van het seizoen was ook gelijk de start voor het EMX250 Kampioenschap. Werner kende een moeilijke tijdtraining waarin hij na een aantal valpartijen niet verder kwam dan een achtentwintigste tijd. In de eerste manche pakte Werner een goede start. De eerste helft van de wedstrijd verliep goed en met nog tien minuten te gaan reed hij nog op een elfde plaats. Daarna sloeg de vermoeidheid toe en werd het zwart voor zijn ogen. Werner moest het tempo laten zakken en viel daardoor helemaal terug naar een vierentwintigste plaats, waarmee hij niet tot scoren kwam. In de tweede manche pakte Werner opnieuw een goede start en werkte vervolgens een constante wedstrijd af. Werner werd op een sterke zesde plaats afgevlagd en werd hiermee elfde in het dagklassement.

Commentaar Maximilian Werner: “Zaterdag was een hele moeilijke dag, tijdens de eerste manche kreeg ik het op een gegeven zwart voor mijn ogen en voelde alle energie uit me vloeien. Gelukkig wist ik de manche toch nog uit te rijden alleen was dit helaas buiten de punten. Op zondag voelde ik me een stuk beter en kwam ik als zesde over de finish.”

Voor de MX2 klasse was de wedstrijd in Spanje na Argentinië de tweede wedstrijd voor de punten. Hakon Osterhagen kende een moeilijke kwalificatieheat op zaterdag. Na een slechte start kwam hij moeilijk in zijn ritme en merkte hij dat de snelheid er nog niet voldoende is. Hierdoor kwam hij niet verder dan een eenentwintigste plaats. In de eerste manche op zondag stuurde Hakon zijn Honda net binnen de top twintig door de eerste bocht. Gedurende de wedstrijd kwam hij goed terug naar voren en wist op een veertiende plaats over de finish te komen. In de tweede manche pakte Osterhagen een soortgelijke start. Gedurende de wedstrijd vocht hij vele duels uit en wist met een twintigste plaats opnieuw een WK punt te pakken.

Commentaar Hakon Osterhagen: “Het was een weekend met ups en downs. Het rijden was bij vlagen best goed maar ik mis de juiste agressie die je nodig hebt. Daarnaast maakte ik te veel domme fouten en ik moet er aan werken om dat eruit te krijgen.”

De volgende wedstrijd meetellend voor het wereldkampioenschap MX2 is op 6 en 7 april in het Italiaanse Riola Sardo.

Mixed feelings for JM Honda Racing after MXGP of Argentina

The JM Racing Honda team is looking back at the opening round of the world championship MXGP in Argentina with mixed feelings.

Brent van Doninck crashed at the start of the qualifying heat on Saturday and has broken his femur. Van Doninck had surgery on it already but will be out for a long time.

Hakon Osterhagen was showing a good speed in the MX2 class on Saturday. He took a really good start in the qualifying heat and was riding inside of the leading group in the first couple of corners. During the race he lost a few positions but Osterhagen was doing a great job and finished the race in seventh position.

His start in the opening moto wasn’t that well and he had to start outside of the top ten. He started to put the pressure on the riders in front of him but due to a crash he had to be satisfied with seventeenth position.

In the second moto he took a really good start and he came out of the first lap in second position. In the first ten minutes he was riding inside of the top five and after twenty minutes he still got a top ten position in his hands. In the second part of the race he had to lower the pace a bit and dropped back to seventeenth position.

Overall he finished in eighteenth place. In two weeks from now the series continues in Arroyomolinos in Spain.

JM Honda Racing announces 2024 line up

JM Honda Racing proudly presents its line up for the 2024 season. The team will compete in three different classes and is busy preparing for the new season.

Brent van Doninck remains with the team and will compete in the MXGP World Championship. Van Doninck showed very strong form last year and achieved one top ten place after another. A hip injury unfortunately brought an early end to his season, but he has now recovered well and is ready to hunt for success in the MXGP class again.

Hakon Osterhagen will compete for the team in the MX2 class. Osterhagen is seen as a very talented rider, who managed to win the world title in the 125cc class in 2021. The last two seasons have been a bit disappointing for the very talented rider due to injuries, but within the structure of JM Honda Racing he will take the next step in his career to become a permanent rider in the top ten.

JM Honda Racing has signed a contract with another talent and this is Max Werner. The German finished third in the EMX125 Championship last year and will switch to the EMX250 class within the JM Racing Honda team.

Preparation for the new season is in full swing and the team will compete in its first races of 2024 in February. The first race of the world championship is scheduled for the weekend of March 9 and 10 in Argentina.
