Ups and downs for JM Racing Honda in MXGP of Trentino

Henry Jacobi only scored points in the first moto with a 14th position and Petr Polak took three points with an eighteenth position in the second moto of the MX2 class.

The track in Arco di Trento was ridden in the opposite direction. This was a new challenge for the riders. Despite the fact that the track had the same surface as in the previous years, it was really slippery and sketchy.

The team had a huge set back on Saturday because home rider Ivo Monticelli came up short on a jump and broke a toe. Henry Jacobi was struggling to find his rhythm on Saturday and due to this he had to be satisfied with 18th position in the qualifying heat. Petr Polak qualified himself in 20th spot in the MX2 class.

In the first moto on Sunday it started to go better for Jacobi. During the race he managed to pass several riders and worked his way by Jed Beaton in the closing stages of the race to finally finish in 14th position. Disaster struck Jacobi in the beginning of the second moto when a rock damaged his front brake protector. Due to this he was forced to retire from the race.

Jacobi finished in eighteenth position overall and sits in seventeenth position in the world championship standings.

Petr Polak had a crash in the beginning of the first moto and had to come back through the field. He gave everything he had but failed to score points with a 26th position. Mixed Fortunes For JM Racing Honda At Portuguese MXGP Round

JM Racing Honda experienced mixed fortunes during the fourth round of the MXGP world championship series at Agueda in Portugal. Henry Jacobi again claimed a holeshot, but only got to 14th position in the first race. Ivo Monticelli made his comeback after seven months and focused on getting race rhythm while Petr Polak scored in both MX2 heats, and finished 14th overall for the day.

Jacobi was in good form during the qualifying heat on Saturday. After a good start, he was part of the mix in this strong class and finished eighth. He followed this up with a holeshot in the opening heat on Sunday, but battled to settle into a rhythm. This caused him to drop back down the field. He held steady in a points-scoring position and finished 14th. In the second heat, Jacobi landed next to the track after an altercation, and by the time he got going again, any hopes of scoring points were far gone. He was 18th overall for the day, and is 17th in the world standings.

Ivo Monticelli made his racing comeback after a seven month long injury-related layoff. It was important to gain race rhythm, which he did in abundance, even scoring some points in the second heat with an 18th place finish.

Petr Polak qualified 15th in the MX2 class. He held steady in a top 15 spot in the first heat, and was involved in some fierce tussles. He eventually crossed the line in 14th position. JM Racing Honda shows great things at MXGP Mantova

Henry Jacobi and Petr Polak of JM Honda Racing have shown good things at the second round of the world championship MXGP in Mantova, Italy. Jacobi finished in twelfth position in the second moto of the MXGP class despite pain in his hand while Polak had several nice battles with the fastest MX2 riders and finished inside of the top fifteen in both motos.

In the opening moto, Jacobi managed to take a really good start and was inside the top five till a rider crashed right in front of him so he had to stop completely. He lost a lot of positions and had to come back through the field to finally finish the race in nineteenth position.

In the second moto he took the holeshot and was trying to hang on to this position for as long as possible. In the first few laps he lost several positions to the top riders but after that he was riding inside of the top ten till the end of the race. Due to the pain in his hand he lost two positions in the closing stages of the race and finished in twelfth position.

In the second moto he took a really good start and was battling with the fastest MX2 riders in the world. Because this took a lot of energy he was forced to lower the pace a bit but he still managed to finish in a strong 13th position.

‘’What a feeling to take a good start and be up there with with the front guys. I went bit too wild and ran out of energy, but still really happy for how it went and that I was able to mix it a little bit up in front. It was a big learning day for me,’’ explains Petr.

After two rounds he sits in seventeenth position in the world championship standings.
