Brent van Doninck close to top ten in MXGP of Sweden
Brent van Doninck of JM Racing Honda came close to the top ten in the fifteenth round of the MXGP world championship in Uddevalla, Sweden. Van Doninck managed to finish eleventh and twelfth in the motos and became eleventh in the overall classification.
Due to the heavy rainfall on Friday, the circuit was slippery on Saturday with treacherous hard ruts. Van Doninck used his time in practice to get used to the circuit and managed to set a twelfth time in time practice. Van Doninck also finished twelfth in the qualifying heat and was looking forward to the motos on Sunday with confidence.
In the first moto, Van Doninck got off to a reasonable start and came out of the first lap just inside the top fifteen. With a good rhythm, he managed to work his way up to eleventh place within a few laps. Van Doninck had his sights on the top ten but failed to gain an extra position and finished eleventh.
The start of the second moto was better and this time he came out of the first lap in eleventh place. He worked his way up to tenth place and managed to hold on for a number of laps. However, in the closing stages he could not hold on to this position and lost two places. Exhausted, Van Doninck crossed the finish line in twelfth place and became eleventh in the overall classification.
Max Werner competed in the EMX250 class in Sweden. Werner managed to take the lead in both motos and was leading for laps in the first moto. He couldn’t hold on to this and dropped back to tenth place during the race. In the second moto things went better for Werner and he was riding a solid race. Werner finished in a good seventh place and became seventh in the day’s classification as well.
In the EMX250 Championship, Werner is in tenth place. This weekend, JM Racing Honda will compete in the Dutch Grand Prix in Arnhem. Brent van Doninck will ride in the MXGP class and Max Werner will compete in the MX2 class.
