Brent van Doninck finishes in eighth place in the MXGP in Sardinia

Brent van Doninck of JM Racing Honda finished in eighth position in the second round of the world championship MXGP in Sardinia. Due to an arm injury he wasn’t completely fit for the start of the weekend so he didn’t knew what to expect. Despite this he finished eighth overall with a 9-8 in the motos.

Van Doninck had picked up an arm injury at the Dutch Masters of Motocross a week prior to the race. Despite this his riding went well in free practice. In time practice he made to many mistakes and couldn’t ride a perfect lap. Due to this he ended the session in fourteenth place. In the qualifying heat he took a really good start and came out of the first corner around third position. Due to a few mistakes he lost a few spots in the beginning of the race. Things were going well for him and he was riding a good heat to finally finish the race in fourth!

Unfortunately he was struggling to find a good flow on the track in the motos on Sunday. The track was difficult and fast. In the first moto he was riding too tight and this cost him a lot of energy. In the closing stages he lost two positions and finally finished the race in ninth place. In the second moto things were going better and this time he crossed the finish line in eighth place.

After two rounds he sits in twelfth position in the world championship standings. In two weeks from now the series continues at Frauenfeld in Switzerland.

Mixed fortunes for Brent van Doninck in the Dutch Masters of Motocross 500 in Harfsen

Brent van Doninck of JM Honda Racing has had mixed fortunes at the opening round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen.

Van Doninck started the day strong and was third fastest in time practice. This gave him confidence going into the first moto.

Van Doninck took a good start in the first moto and was in second behind Jeffrey Herlings. He tried to follow the five time world champion and managed to do this really well. He kept him in his sights for the entire race and finished just 3.7 sec behind him in second.

Brent was motivated for the second moto and took a really good start. At one point he took the holeshot but unfortunately he slid out in the first corner. In the corner another rider collided with him and due to this he hurt his arm. Brent retired from the race and didn’t score points in this one.

With a 2-DNF in the motos he ended up in eleventh position overall. Next weekend the second round of the world championship will be held in Riola Sardo, Sardinia.

Ups and downs for JM Racing Honda in MXGP of Argentinia

JM Racing Honda has had ups and downs at the opening round of the World Championship MXGP in Argentina. An injury and an electricity problem made it difficult for the team.

Camden McLellan had a huge setback in free practice. He dislocated his shoulder without even crashing and this meant the end of his weekend.

Brent van Doninck set the tenth fastest time in time practice. The track was fast and sketchy and van Doninck wasn’t feeling completely comfortable on it. In the qualifying heat he didn’t took a good start but it didn’t took him long to make up positions. He was riding in eleventh position till he collided with a back marker and crashed. He lost three positions and finished the race in fourteenth place but he also hurt his wrist in the crash.

Van Doninck was riding a really strong first moto and managed to finish the race in eighth place.

He was motivated to do well again in the second moto. He took a really good start and came out of the first corner in fourth position. Unfortunately his bike stopped in the second corner due to a electricity problem and this forced him to retire from the race.

Due to this set back he had to be satisfied with sixteenth position overall. Next weekend Van Doninck will participate in the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen!

Brent van Doninck takes the win in the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop

Brent van Doninck of JM Racing Honda has won the Dutch MX Season Opener at Lierop. Van Doninck was riding two strong motos and took the overall win with a 1-2 moto score.

After his strong appearance at the international race in Hawkstone Park, Brent was determined to do the same in Lierop. In practice the track was still fast but during the session it became heavier and heavier. Van Doninck did several attempts to put a fast lap together and finally took the pole position with an advantage of more than a second over the second place rider.

In the opening moto he took a good start and came out of the first turn in the leading group. He worked his way up into the lead during the opening lap and despite the pressure from Jorge Prado he kept the lead lap after lap. During the race he started to pull away from the rest of the field and managed to win the race.

Van Doninck had more work to do in the second moto. He took a poor start and was outside of the top ten in the beginning of the race. During the race he passed one rider after another and in the closing stages of the race he had worked himself up into fourth position. He gave everything he had and managed to pass the two riders in front of him and finished the race in second position.

With a 1-2 in the motos he took the overall win in Lierop. The JM Racing Honda team will now travel to Argentina for round 1 of the world championship MXGP.
