Mixed Fortunes For JM Racing Honda At Portuguese MXGP Round
JM Racing Honda experienced mixed fortunes during the fourth round of the MXGP world championship series at Agueda in Portugal. Henry Jacobi again claimed a holeshot, but only got to 14th position in the first race. Ivo Monticelli made his comeback after seven months and focused on getting race rhythm while Petr Polak scored in both MX2 heats, and finished 14th overall for the day.
Jacobi was in good form during the qualifying heat on Saturday. After a good start, he was part of the mix in this strong class and finished eighth. He followed this up with a holeshot in the opening heat on Sunday, but battled to settle into a rhythm. This caused him to drop back down the field. He held steady in a points-scoring position and finished 14th. In the second heat, Jacobi landed next to the track after an altercation, and by the time he got going again, any hopes of scoring points were far gone. He was 18th overall for the day, and is 17th in the world standings.
Ivo Monticelli made his racing comeback after a seven month long injury-related layoff. It was important to gain race rhythm, which he did in abundance, even scoring some points in the second heat with an 18th place finish.
Petr Polak qualified 15th in the MX2 class. He held steady in a top 15 spot in the first heat, and was involved in some fierce tussles. He eventually crossed the line in 14th position. He rode in 13th spot initially as the second heat got going, but a mistake cost him four spots. He recovered and regained one position to finish 16th. He was 14th overall, and is likewise to be found in 17th position in the world standings.
The series continues next weekend at Arco di Trento in Italy
